| Hooper are an earthy, acoustic, folk rock duo from Teesside, North East England. Hooper formed in the Summer of 2005, comprising ex-members of Lift and Delete, Tom Newton and James McCue. Local band Lift played extensively in Teesside and secured a loyal fanbase, excellent press coverage and were one of the first bands to be involved in the From Teesside With Love project. Hooper have taken on board their alternative rock background and fused their sound with earthy, folk-based influences to produce challenging and unique acoustic music. Hooper mainly use acoustic guitar, sometimes accompanied by cello, bass and percussion. Hooper has a wide range of influences which drive their unique sound, such as: NIN, Devin Townsend, Live, System of a Down, Pearl Jam, Ben Folds, Iron and Wine, Nick Drake, and Bonnie Prince Billy. Having completed their debut album, Geomelodies, Hooper have played a handful of shows including Wynyard Planetarium and Teesside University Acoustic Night and are now involved in the Writers Cafe at The Georgian Theatre.
